Currently it's closing in on midnight, and I do need to wake up in 6 hours so I would like to just start off with some basic info about myself (yes its boring, but for those of you who don't know me, or would like to know a little more... here you go). I'm 23 years old, soon to be 24 in May, and a 3rd year Advertising Photography Major at RIT. Given that over a quarter of my life is over and I still don't have my bachelors degree, I am also extremely anxious to GET GOING, in my life and career. Sorry for the caps but I cannot stress that enough, perhaps it's somewhat of a quarter-life crisis but I feel like I am behind schedule, and I must rectify that. I have a wonderful girlfriend who I love and care for deeply, she is the steady hand in my shaky world, my closest friend, and my Helen of Troy. I don't mean to get hokey with you guys, and I promise it won't happen often, but I cannot describe myself as a person, or artist without referring to what I consider as my most important muse. Now I probably haven't said enough about who I am, but its late so I will just leave you with 3 facts about my past that few know.
1) I have personally owned and cared for two members of the Bovine persuasion. (yes, it is what you think. I raised 2 cows while in middle school, and sold them to buy my first computer and car...)
2) I worked at a condiment factory for over a year. My duties included: scraping and inspecting labels, "re"-working peanut butter (this is as gross as it sounds) and tromping around in up to 3 inches of jelly-water to please the overlords.
3) I have never flown on a plane or seen the ocean. This has nothing to do with a fear of heights or water, but more to do with the lack of funds needed to do these sort of things. I am hoping, however, that my career choice will put me in a prime position to get paid to fly on planes and sometimes see the ocean. I'll cross my fingers on this one.
I just realized that I wrote this intro with very little mention of why I am here on this earth. I am a photographer, just incase you didn't know.
This was a pretty uneventful first post and I apologize for that, but I promise that from here out the posts will be interesting and mostly photo related!
Thank you for reading,
-Will Strawser
